Appeal for Support – After the Impact of Cyclone Digva in Sri Lanka
The recent Cyclone Digva has caused severe damage across Sri Lanka, leading to unexpected floods and landslides. Many families have suffered greatly during this disaster. More than *334 people have lost their lives, and over *200 people are still missing due to floods, landslides, transportation breakdowns, and power outages.
In the districts of Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, and Ratnapura, where many of our plantation and rural communities live, people have lost their homes, belongings, and sources of income. Many families are now displaced and staying in temporary shelters such as schools and temples. Sadly, even though plantation communities are among the worst affected, plantation companies have shown very little concern or support.
To understand the situation and provide immediate help, *officials from the Community Development Foundation (CDF), together with *Hon. The Deputy Minister of Estate Infrastructure Development visited the disaster-affected areas and met with affected families.
However, the scale of the disaster is too large for the government to manage alone. Therefore, CDF is appealing to NGOs, well-wishers, donors, and kind-hearted individuals to support our relief efforts.
